Images of a Work Collection No. 7: "Électronique de chambre" by Marco Stroppa
Marco Stroppa’s cycle of works for solo instrument and “chamber electronics” offers an opportunity to explore new ways of projecting sound within the concert hall and to renew the computational paradigms governing the relationship between the instrumental world and the world of synthesized sounds.
This short film highlights the stakes of this approach through two residencies of Stroppa at Ircam: the realization of a new version of …of silence for saxophone and electronics, and the creation of a brand-new piece in the cycle, hist whist for violin and electronics. Excerpts from rehearsals, interviews with the performers involved in the genesis of these works, and readings of poetic passages by Cummings provide multiple ways to enter a demanding and singular musical universe.
