IRCAM History
Facing the place Stravinsky, IRCAM was created in 1977 by President Pompidou, eager to associate a center for musical creation with the national center of art and culture Georges Pompidou to make a multidisciplinary cultural center.
Our Activities
IRCAM, the Institute for Research and Coordination in Acoustics/Music directed by Frank Madlener, is one of the world’s largest public research centers dedicated to both musical expression and scientific research.
The Building
Designed by the architects Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers, the IRCAM building stands alongside the Centre Pompidou on the Place Igor Stravinsky, in the heart of Paris.
