After studying at the Sorbonne, Edith Canat de Chizy won six first prizes at the Paris Conservatoire, including one in composition. Trained in electroacoustic music by Guy Reibel at the Groupe de Recherches Musicales, and a pupil of Ivo Malec, she met Maurice Ohana in 1983 and devoted a monograph to him with François Porcile (Fayard, 2005).
